The Journal is a full-size 8 ½ x 11 magazine published 6 times per year and mailed on the 15th of every second month. The Journal is mailed out in February, April, June, August, October, and December. The December issue is mailed out about 1 week earlier then all the other issues so that the Christmas rush will not delay it.
The average issue of The Journal is between 50 and 60 pages in size, with a maximum of 25% of it being advertising. The other 75% of The Journal is content driven. No other magazine can make this claim.
We are also 1 of only 2 magazines to offer a 6 times per year printing, as the majority of the magazines that are out there only offer 4 issues per year. We are also the only magazine that offers issues 6 times per year that are printed using an offset press and magazine grade paper with a solid cover that is saddle stitched to give you the highest quality of any publication.

Each edition of The Journal features a cover dog with a story and pedigree of said dog inside. A featured interview is also part of every issue. There is also show news in each and every issue of The Journal, as well as stories from both past and present. Also included is a Readers Write section, Champion, Grand Champion, and ROM lists. You will also find some excellent information from featured writers in each and every issue as well as medical tips, advice on conditioning, and an In Your Corner section presented by one of the most well known dogmen of our time.
Historical pedigrees are also presented in each and every issue, and a full-page centerfold of a famous pitdog either past or present appears in every issue.
Unlike some other magazines out there, we welcome all overseas and foreign subscriptions, as well as all show news from every country around the world, with the awarding of Championship certificates to all countries for show news that has been submitted and verified by us as true to the best of our knowledge.
We also will be inducting a dogman/women as well as a best male and female dog each and every year as determined by our subscribers into our Hall of Fame. That's right, you read that correctly, our subscribers determine this, not us. We also look to our subscribers to vote for who deserves the title of Dog of The Year as well.
